Our Story.

Dorothy’s On Seaview is more than a place to stay. It’s a house shaped by decades of family, memory, and coastal tradition.

A small white house with black shutters and a gray roof, featuring two dormer windows and a covered porch. A car is parked on the driveway beside the house, surrounded by trees and a well-maintained lawn.

The cottage was purchased by Dorothy the same year her first grandson was born. It quickly became her seasonal retreat, a haven from spring through fall, where family gathered for lobster dinners, card games, long beach days, and puzzle-filled evenings on the sun porch. She kept the house as a constant for her family, a place to return to year after year.

Summers at Dorothy’s meant learning to surf, visiting the candy shop in Perkins Cove, riding the trolley, playing board games late into the night, and walking the Marginal Way under the stars. It was the kind of place where childhoods unfolded slowly. No TV, just salty air, ice cream, and the sound of the waves nearby.

In recent years, it has been thoughtfully restored, not as a renovation but as a revival. Many of the furnishings are handmade by her son, a woodworker known for his sculptural work in parks across the country. Artwork from local artists hangs on the walls alongside original photography. Objects once belonging to Dorothy and her children still live throughout the home.

Today, Dorothy’s On Seaview continues as it began. A place to gather, to rest, to reflect. Guests are invited not just to stay, but to slow down. To feel connected, peaceful, and grateful for the simple moments that make a memory last.
